The last few days I have been watching and reading the presidential and vice presidential debates and other related articles since I have been a slacker on keeping up with all the political-ness of our country right now.
This picture pretty much sums up the way I feel about things. All I can really say about the whole thing, is it too late for President Thomas S. Monson to be put on the ballot?!?!?! Please?!?!

Amen! I'm so ready for Nov. 4th to come and go. Forrest and I have really gotten into it this year, but I just feel really disappointed in both candidates. I know who I'm going to vote for, but I really don't like him.
I'm not terribly excited about either candidate, but just listen to what Fred Thompson has to say about the dangers of an Obama administration:

That's where I am right now.
hahah, you make me laugh. I totaly agree.
Amen again! Love your picture!
Becky and I had our Obama sign stolen out of our yard. I think a lot of Mormons have come to associate Republicanism with righteousness and non-republicanism with everything evil in the world. You should go rent "Our Divided State." It's a documentary made by a guy at UVSC about the community reaction to Michael Moore's campus address.
Oh, and did you know that both Presient Hinckley and Faust were registered Democrats?
Michael Moore does represent everything evil in the world.
But on a more serious note, while the Democratic party does not represent evil, it is indeed the party that is moving farther and farther away from the moral base that has been established by the goepel. It is the party that is more in favor of and supportive of the homosexual agenda, or legal abortions, of legislation that increasingly normalizes anti-family behaviour, of increasing radicalization of the church-state separation, and on and on. Even Orson Scott Card, prominent Mormon and Democrat - has found himself separating more and more form today's party as it continues dramatic shifts to the left. The beauty of the church is that they stay apolitical and let everyone use their agency to decide for themselves, but keep in mind the pressure on Obama - even if he isn't lying about his moderate views - to take on a hard left agenda when surrounded by a democratic house and senate, and to make extreme left picks for supreme court. I've heard the argument that it doesn't matter a president's personal opinions on moral issues because those are more properly dealt with in the judicial system, but even if you believe that, it is still the president who makes most judicial appointments.
And anyway, as a nurse I am extremely frightened of anything that moves more towards government involvement in healthcare.
You are so cute Megan! I love that picture of you!
Be nice boys.
My intention was really not to open up a Republican v. Democrat discussion. But feel free to continue your discussion on your own respective blogs :-D
Oh and for the record, I really am not one who thinks of ANY political party equating with righteousness!
We are being nice. This is just a friendly debate between two nurses. Just because I'm right doesn't mean anybody has to get mad.
:-)
On a lighter note, when are you coming out this way next? We just had our second baby a few days ago and she was asking about you.
No worries... I am not here to debate. I have a lot of friends who are LDS and Democrat!!! (close gaping mouth now). I am a registered Independant due to the fact that we've had a President who isn't fighting a war, cares very little about our borders, job security and the economy, he has very little back bone when it comes to these issues. All I am saying is, if we fought WWII the way we are fighting in Iraq today, we would be living in a different world. The way the war is going makes me annoyed...I could keep going. This election is going to be tough. I too still don't know who to vote for. I want a better economy, job security and this war to be over. But does that mean we let Gay marraige and Abortion be legalized? I am with Abbie... I don't like either candidate. Let's hold our breaths and hope the one who gets it doesn't lead us down deeper. Manda and I are going to hold a "YES for Prop 102" sign on the morning of the 4th. It's the same as Prop 8 in CA. I hope we don't get spat upon and pushed like our friends are back in CA. Scary world we are living in!

Hey. I wasn't trying to rile people up. Sorry. I just posted a thing that explains how Becky decided to vote, and it's on my blog as you requested.
La la la.
Yeah, I know...it's like the better of two evils. I have never been so unexcited for a presidential election in my life!!
Well, well. A short, and very funny (ah ha) comment by Lou sure prompted a few fiery comments. Its too bad that some 'religionists' believe that red is the only way to go -- but more distressing to me is the need for some bluish (not courgar) people to 'be their own people, and not follow the crowd' and be so proud about it.
Anyway - what are those three things that no one should ever talk about? religion, sports, and politics. Something like that. That's what they always said in portugal.
The truth of the matter is that neither candidate has impressed me. We watched some of the debates and just wanted to turn them off after a few minutes. I'm with you Meg ... the presidents of the church should just be presidents of the nation :P Wouldn't that be fun. We'd get to hear P. Monson at General Conference and whenever there was some message from the White house!!
wow. a lot has gone on here.
forrest and i were talking about this all afternoon. it is hard. and i too believe that you can associate with either party and still be a good Christian person. in my opinion, both parties are a bit corrupt.
sorry, meg, i'm done being political. and that is a really cute picture of you. you are so beautiful!
