6 year old in the house!

Happy Birthday to Hyrum!!! I think 6 is the last year that I can convince myself that Hyrum is still a little boy but after this, I dunno, 7, 8, 9 all those ages seem like big boy ages. So I will enjoy my last year with Hyrum as a little boy :)

We started the day with waffles, presents from family & skyping with Darlin' & Pa.

Figuring out Bumblebee together. Jeremy just admitted to me 5 minutes ago that he thinks he likes these Transformers as much as Hyrum does. I am not like this at all but Hyrum just loves to figure out how things work & fit together so after watching Daddy put Bumblebee together a couple of times he was able to transform him all by himself & was quite proud :)

This afternoon/evening Hyrum had 6 of his friends over from school & church. It was loud but lots of fun to have them all here. They are a great group of kids. We drove them all over to Jump Mania for some bouncing fun (thanks to the Englands for watching the twins at our house during that time & for helping with dinner!)

Then home for hotdogs, chips, grapes, cake, ice cream & more playing.

Then he opened his friends' presents-everyone was so generous & he is so excited about all of his new gifts.

things we love about Hyrum

*I love having Hyrum around & it's been hard for me to have him start school this past year. I miss him & the weekends go by too fast. Lucky for me he says he likes school but he likes being home a lot more-yay!
*He is a big helper around the house
*He plays so well with Hunter & the babies. It is one of my favorite things to watch him interact with his brothers & sister (Even though lately he is really starting to fill the TEASER roll in the family-but that's what big brothers are good at eh?)
*He genuinely loves babies & little kids - not just ours but anyone that comes over, I wasn't expecting that so much with a boy but he does have a soft spot for them. I know he'll be great with our new baby in about a month & a good Daddy in about 20 years
*The kid has an amazing attention span if he is doing something he loves
*He is always drawing pictures/cards for me & other people in our family-he is so sweet
*It's been fun to see him develop interests in things like Transformers & Bakugans & even though they're not my favorite things it's fun to sit & listen to him talk about them & explain all the little gadgets to me-he gets so excited about them
*He is a good friend
*I love his sense of humor that he is developing & his super silly streak
*I love his curiosity & love of learning & how creative he can be
*I love how independent he has become, taking showers by himself, getting for school on his own etc. It's soooooooo nice to have one kid that can do all of those things!

We love you Hyrum & can't imagine our family or life without you!

Sorry you have to hear me sing-I've always known I couldn't sing but boy that was bad :)

Happy Birthday Hyrum!

In the first picture of him--he looks so mature. I loved reading the list about his personality too. What a little sweetheart! I love how helpful he is with the younger kids too!!

I always enjoy your January birthday posts!! You do such a great job planning a party for kids. Even with how busy this month is for you, you still make each little one feel so special. It looks like the kids had a blast! :)

Happy Birthday Hyrum! We have pictures of Andrew and his Dad when he turned six doing the same thing...figuring out how to put Bumblebee together. Aren't we lucky to have Dads to do those kinds of things?

The birthday boy is so cute! It looks like he had a good day! Cole and Aaron got Transformers for Christmas and they love them but I think Ryan might like them even more. He just might be getting some for his birthday.:)

Happy Birthday, Hyrum!!!

Isn't it sad seeing our little ones growing up? (Okay, except for the whole doing things by themselves part, although that can bring a tear now and then as well. . . .)
