Outrageous October

October wasn't really outrageous but it was loads of fun celebrating one of my favorite holidays & enjoying the fall!

The kids had a random Friday off so we celebrated by going to our favorite jump house that really isn't so much of a jump house but that's what we call it.

I made some yummy Mexican food last night & it just may have been almost as good as your local Mexican restaurant :)

We saw the most gorgeous rainbow the other day.  You could see where both ends ended & it was so bright & vibrant (can't tell from the picture).

Dallen had a very close call with a curtain cord this month.  Lucky for all of us Justy was there to save the day & Dallen wasn't any worse off than just a cord mark around his neck.

I taught preschool in September & the first day of October & then I handed the stuff off to the next Mom.  This group changed quite a bit in just the month I had them.  Finally got a group picture!

Balloon painting

We've had some cross dressing going on around here & I'm not quite sure how I feel about it....

General Conference for our church was the first weekend in October.  To get ready we played Memory (one of our favorite games lately) with the faces of the First Presidency & 12 Apostles.  I was surprised to see how many the kids knew by name.

The kids station with lots of paper, crayons & activities to keep them occupied.

We had a couple of picnics & Jeremy made his first batch of homemade ice cream!  I know I'm weird but I don't like homemade ice cream because it's always been really icy but this was smooth & creamy & delicious.

Sleeping beauty :)

Behind the big couch is a popular place to read books

We finally went & saw where the sea lions like to play in Astoria - there were tons of them!

We have had tons of fires lately.  I love the smell & the ambiance.

We said goodbye to one of our favorite missionaries Sister Crystal Boatwright.  She was in our ward for 7 months!  That is a long time for a missionary to be in one spot.  She is such a hard worker & loves the gospel & the people she serves.

We went for a very short visit to my parents house one weekend.

I ran another half marathon - this time it was in Lebanon Oregon for the Runaway Pumpkin race.  It was so fun!  It was a smaller race which was nice (not as many people), the terrain was pretty flat & most of the racers were dressed up in some way.  I ran it in 2:22 which was 18 minutes faster than I ran my last two halfs.  I would love to run it in 2:10 someday but I will take what I can get :) This was my first time staying in a hotel by myself too.

Here we are tired, sweaty, stinky but DONE!

The boys did soccer & loved it.  We were really happy with both coaches & teams & the boys had so much fun.  Above are some shots of Hyrum.  He preferred offensive but spent a lot of time on defensive.  He is still really hesitant but is getting better at going after the ball more.  He is great at passing the ball to others & making it a team effort.

The little kids were awesome going every Saturday & sitting through two games.  They found ways to pass the time.

Discussing soccer tactics (or maybe just looking forward to the snack after the game?)

Hunter improved a ton & really learned to not be afraid to go after the ball & run hard.  I finally remembered to bring the camera for the last game!

Here are some of our more Halloweenish activities.  We went with some friends to a pumpkin patch on Sauvie Island.  It's the best one by far we've been to around here but I guess we've only been to 3 so far.

We went on a hayride, picked pumpkins, played in a hay maze, a hay stack, tractors, rode in a cow train & looked at the farm animals.  We ended the day eating pizza & got home way too late :)

Nana sent us a fun Halloween package!

Dallen was my decorating helper

My sister in law Havalah is a big Harry Potter fan & she threw a party at her parents house up in Lacey.  Since we were going as Gryffindor students we thought it would be a great year to go - now we have costumes!  We ate delicious food & played HP games & talked.  It was a fun night to be sure.

Our friends the Clyde family throw an annual Halloween party at their place.  The games & food vary but the two things that remain constant are the donuts on a stick & the pinata for the kids.  Those were the two things my kids were most excited about.  It was a fun night!

Dallen fell asleep immediately in the car & stayed asleep while clutching his bag of candy as I laid him in bed.

Halloween day we trick or treated at the outlet mall & then went to our church party that night & trunk or treated.  The amount of candy we brought home was insane.  We have already set aside candy for gingerbread houses & Valentine's day parties at school.  I just may throw half of it out or donate it somewhere.  My parents were able to drive down for the weekend & join us which is always a plus.

The cutest Harry Potter ever!
