Our babies are 2 weeks old today. I love having twins! It's crazy, crazy but so good & I love it. Have I mentioned that I love it? Everyone should have twins :) My Mom and I were talking about how normal and right it feels that we have two babies instead of just one. It doesn't seem strange at all. Can't beat 2 for the price of 1.The nursing thing hasn't gone as I was hoping but I am trying to stay positive. I realized everything in my pregnancy and especially in the labor went so perfectly that I can't expect there to be no tricky spots, right? I was so determined to nurse them to 12 months and determined it would be easy but um, not so much. They both lost a pound within the first four days and we had to supplement. Neither of them nurse very well and take the bottle a lot better. So I'm pumping now and still supplementing and we'll see how long I last. The whole process takes like an hour with help or 1 hour and 40 minutes without help. But they are both way above their birth weight now, filling out, and getting bigger every day.
They have decided to have fussy time in the middle of the night and the last couple of nights it was pretty much all night long. So, I'm going to change some things in my diet (I'm still eating lots of ice cream though!) and we're trying hard to keep them awake after they eat during the day so hopefully that will help with the night thing.
I'm so thankful my Mom has been here for 2 weeks and has another 2 weeks to go! Hyrum & Hunter would be sadly neglected otherwise.
They are both so sweet and fun to cuddle. I can't believe we're a little family of 6 now...

Megan your kids are so cute. Congrats on your twins. there so sweet. Good luck with nursing!
I remember thinking I wanted another set of twins when mine were newborns! I wouldn't ever want twins again now, but at that time it was so fun and euphoric and I wanted to do it again.
Don't worry about that nursing thing. I only nursed the boys for 2 weeks and then pumped/supplemented for the next four months, then formula fed the rest of the time. My boys weren't good nursers, it would have made a difference if they latched on well. I was determined to nurse when I was pregnant with them too. You do what works. Congratulations you are doing an amazing job.
Wow! I cannot believe they are 2 weeks already! You are a trooper, I hope the nursing gets better with time. :) I hope they sleep better for you soon too! That is so wonderful that your mom can be there for a month! What a special treat for your whole family! It looks like Hyrum and Hunter are such proud big brothers! What a beautiful family you guys have! :) Love you guys!
Wow, I don't know how you do it! Those little babies are so amazing! I am still in awe about your birthing story.
Thanks for the update! Do you have a good pump? I have one I can send your way if you need it. It is an electric double pump so you can do both at the same time. Let me know. They are beautiful! I can hardly wait to meet them!!
Megan!!! Thank you SO MUCH for the pictures and update! I've been thinking about you so much!
Your twins are just beautiful! They look so happy and so healthy! I'm really glad your Mom can be there to help too, what a relief!
Get as much rest as you can! :) You are amazing!!! Keep it up! You are incredible!!!!
Can it be any sweeter than that? Those two snuggled up together are so sweet. Way to go loving it! :)
I'm super impressed that you posted again so soon! You are super mom! They are so adorable. I love to see two sweet babies side by side. We've always told our boys that not everyone gets to be born with their best friend. It is so true... twins have a special bond from the beginning. I just loved being able to experience all of that. Good luck with nursing. Take one day at a time and give yourself credit for all of the MILLION things you do everyday! You are doing awesome!
Your babies(and older boys, of course) are so cute. I'm glad that you are loving it. I had HUGE issues trying to nurse Soph from the beginning. It took about 4 weeks of trying to get her to latch right, pumping and then feeding her with a bottle to get to where she just one day latched on perfectly and we never turned back. Very frustrating. I can't imagine having that frustration with 2, so don't feel bad at all. I am hoping this next one for us goes smoother...but alas, we are still waiting.
They're so beautiful, Megan!! I'm glad they're so healthy and that your mom can be there to help. I was wondering how it would be to nurse two babies. Man, it was time consuming with one, let alone two!! I'm sure you'll figure it out and whatever happens will be fine. Don't stress yourself out. :) Love ya!
As if I weren't already in awe of you. Look at you go! Amazing! You were meant to have twins! They are adorable. Good luck with nursing. I can't even imagine!
I want to see them in real life!
I somehow missed this post! I just clicked on your blog because I wanted to see their cute little faces again and wah lah! there was another post! They are adorable and I think you're doing a great job in all aspects. Nursing is really hard, on everyone. Just remember they are getting loved and luckily we have really smart people that know how to very closely replicate breast milk. Whatever works, they will always love you. They are so cute!
You're really making me want twins! Stop it!!! :D
Aw, too bad on the nursing challenges! What a disappointment--but you're totally right that not everything can go perfectly. Stick w/ it as long as you can, knowing every little bit helps, and if you have to give it up, you'll know you've done your best. (It really is amazing how much time nursing/pumping can take up! I know H's going to have issues with me not always avail to her in a couple months!!!)
Thanks for all the great pictures! I've been looking forward to H reading to baby brother, so I had to smile when I saw the one of Hyrum reading to Emma--wait, when was I NOT smiling, seeing your darling family? :D So glad, so glad to see more picts!!!
not that they didn't already look like shakespears, but now they definitely look like shakespears. :) They are adorable and you are my hero supermom!
I completely agree with Southern Spud; this makes me want to have twins! I have to admit that with this pregnancy I was hoping it was twins, but no luck. Although, I'm not sure if I could do it now! You absolutely amaze me! Wow! You are supermom! That is so wonderful that your mom can be there for a month! That is the best!
Oh, and Emma and Justin are so adorable!!! I just love seeing them together.
they're adorable!
All of your children are so sweet. I am really glad that your mom was able to spend a whole month with you! I bet she didn't find it to be too much of a sacrifice either :) I remember my mother in law asking us every Friday to babysit when Aubriel was first born! I love to watch your family, it is almost like you live nearby again!
